I recently aquired a 1978 R100/7 touring machine. There is an electrical issue it seems with the ignition. My brother (owner of the machine for 34 years) and his mechanic friend had trouble shot all the wiring to the entire system and found no faults. The Tach will jump around a bit and the machine will cut out intermittently running like it does not have all the spark that it needs. This unit had the dual plug retrofit done in the 80s and Howard has taken this machine from Wisconsin to Texas to Montana and back with out issue. I wondered if the coils would deteriorate over the years, or the Ignition Amplifier is the issue. There is a bit of carbon buildup on the left plugs. but the right plug seems to be burning fine. ANY THOUGHTS> where can I find a new set of coils and how much would they cost?? The existing were made in Rosemont Ill. but I can find no part number on them.
