Last weekend I talked to my oldest sister in Michigan she told me a story about my grandparents and great grandparents. she told me in the early1800 my greatgrandad came from france his last name was O Brey. When he arrived in louisanna territory he took a native woman as his wife, they had a child .Then in the late 1850's he was sent to a relative's in Canada somewhere aroundMichigan. He migrated to Michigan in search of a wife. He didn't find a wife, and then contacted his father and mother and his father found a native woman for himto be his wife. This woman then walked from louisanna to michigan and married my grandpa. My motherwas born in 1913. So I asked my sister why my family was not ever registered as native and she told me that my family would not do that because they didn't want to be labled as less than white people. Is there anyway to try to trace the native american side of my family. She told me there were no records kept on indians?? If there is a way could anyone contact me at rgordon96007@aol.com
