"Burning Man" is a festival of the arts held during the labor day weekend, in the Playa region of the Black Rock Desert in Northern Nevada, on the border between Washoe and Perhing counties, about two hours out of Reno. This board is for the discussion of the experience of getting there, through essay, art and story. Articles about places to visit in the region, especially in Nevada but elsewhere, too, are especially welcome on the board, and please feel free to go into as much detail as you want. Culture, history, geology, everything that isn't commercial and is reasonably family friendly, even if the event maybe isn't.

Most trips across the desert recomend a high ground clearance 4x4, a full tank of fuel, a spare gallon or so in a can, a gallon of water per person, dry weather, and plenty of prudence. I had three pints of water, foolhardiness, stubbornness, blind courage, innocence and stupidity; And a Ford Mustang. But did anyone think I would miss driving through what I'd seen 20 mintes earlier?
