Disability Studies Web Ring

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, over 22% of Americans have a "disability" (as defined below).  Similar statistics obtain in every industrialized nation worldwide.  Current U.S. projections are that the population percentage of Americans "with disabilities severe enough to impair their [our] accomplishment of major life activities" will increase to about TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT by the year 2020.  It is quite likely that you (or someone you know) may have a "disability" by that time, if not already.  This DISABILITY STUDIES WEBRING brings together web sites that contain articles, essays, papers, discussion and/or other information in support of disability rights, the independent living movement, and community living.  The more you KNOW, the more you can DO.  We encourage you to VISIT EVERY SITE in this webring.  Here you will find a collection of truly outstanding and informative resources that will greatly expand your understanding of both "disability issues" and also of a multitude of intensely personal aspects of living with a "disability" such as you are unlikely to find elsewhere.  Learn and grow stronger!!!

Can an Autistic child be interviewed legally by CPS without a specialist and his mother present?

I am asking because he has reported rape. I also am taking care of my son who is 14 and paraplegic and a child under the same man's care did this to him prior to his accident and it keeps happening and this man, my ex, keeps getting away with it...knowing it is going on!

Having become recently disabled I have MANY questions. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated for sure. My disability limits my ability to walk more than short distances, I hurt extremely bad most all of the time, and I have times when I have to have a walker or wheelchair to move around. The house I live in is owned by my brother who as offered free reign as to the changes to be made to the house for ease of access for myself. Can anyone recommend someone in my area that helps with this this? I live in Pueblo, CO and of course I am stuck on a limited fixed income. Currently the house has hard wood floors in most rooms (bonus), but the floor in the kitchen needs help. The Bathroom also needs help with the addition of a bench and arm rails. The doorways are all narrow making it extremely difficult to get into the bedrooms or the bathroom. Again any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I really appreciate your time and effort to make this article very well. Création de société à Hong-kong

Fernandez Bay Village in Cat Island is our favourite and now habitual destination. The out islands are sometimes called the Shallow Islands or the Family Islands, both monikers that are highly suitable. Most people living and working in...

I first met Kathleen Jordan when she came to my home twenty-three years ago. Jim and I had just received the diagnosis of cerebral palsy and possible mental retardation (as it was called then) for Nicholas. As another mother of a son with disabilities and volunteer consultant to families like her own, Kath offered me information, encouragement and ...

Change is Afoot, Be Wary!

A little personal, a little philosophical and a little ethical: the day to day family narrative that includes my son's severe disabilities gives rise to reflections on the ethics and economics of how to live a good life, even within circumstances of great adversity.
