Whether it's a resource, a political statement or a discussion board, this is the ideal community for "global think". Some of our member pages promote, uphold, challenge or even de-bunk scientific methods. Some examples include an examination of the democratic process and electorate reform. Other pages look at predominating cultural themes such as human rights, religious freedom, economics and organized labor world-wide.

I think the Hockey player from the Bruins is exactly what is wrong with America. No respect for anyone. He is disrespecting the President of the united States. I don't really care how he feels about the politics of the White House, but that gesture is typical of a spoiled rich brat.

This site mainly discusses & exposes how the catholic church is still covering up for their organized child sex crime ring that is still in operation today & misleads the news media with their own fake victims advocate group that was designed by the Catholic Church to control victims and minimize the church's finacial loss. We also discuss the extremely strong connection the Catholic Church has with the Republican party by using their own lobbying group to pump huge amounts of campaign contributions in exchange to make sure the victims are not successful at getting any extensions on statute of limitations or passing any bills that would hold the Catholic Church accountable for the organized child sex ring that is still in operation today. We also discuse any abuse issue & the politics that allow them to continue

They did the same sort of thing during Vietnam. Great people, huh?

Caller devastates family with false news of soldier's death

FLAGSTAFF -- A caller devastated the Flagstaff family of a 22-year-old soldier serving in Iraq, falsely telling them that the man was dead.

On Sunday morning, a man called the home of Wayne Hogg's uncle and said "we need to let you know Wayne died two days ago."

The report was false, but it turned into a nightmare for Hogg's family. His uncle, Danny Hogg, says it took the family a full day to get confirmation that Wayne was still alive in Iraq.

Danny Hogg had participated Saturday in a Flagstaff rally to support U.S. troops in Iraq.

Sunday morning, a photo of him taken at the rally appeared in the Flagtaff newspaper. And it was a short time after the paper hit the streets that the call was made to Danny Hogg's home.

A long and winding road

The United States is now heavily involved in a difficult war. The Iraq conflict has shown itself likely to be longer and more costly in lives and money than had initially been estimated. It is also a war that the United States cannot afford to lose without greatly modifying its own idea of its role in the 21st century world.

In trying to make sense of a war that the United States has been involved in for two weeks now, it is important not to draw large conclusions from morsels of information, including those coming directly from the front.

At the same time, although it is unlikely to become clear for some time what the initial Department of Defense forecasts were of how long it would take to defeat Iraqi forces and take Baghdad, the current situation suggests that it is going to take at least weeks rather than days to capture the city and win the war.

U.S. and British forces are bogged down to a degree, still on the road to Baghdad, due to a number of factors, some of them based on incorrect assumptions.

For the most part the Iraqis are not welcoming the Americans and British as liberators, but seem to see them instead as destructive, foreign invaders. Iraqi regular and irregular forces are fighting, harassing, and resisting U.S. forces. As a result, those spearheading the attack on Baghdad find themselves at the forward end of a vital 300-mile supply train, vulnerable to Iraqi attack along its length.

Baghdad and other Iraqi targets are being pounded by bombing, but the aerial attack has not yet significantly reduced Iraqi forces’ will or ability to resist. It is thus clear that more U.S. forces will be required. Another 120,000 are on the way to the theater, an increase of nearly 50 percent over the original level of 250,000 in and around Iraq.

The Lords of Vengeance
By William Rivers Pitt
t r u t h o u t Perspective

Monday 24 March 2003

We have become, with a sudden jolt, a divided nation in this time of war. Demands that Americans leave aside protests, accusations and anger in order to support our military work in Iraq have gone unheeded by great segments of the population. Millions of people have poured into the streets of virtually every city in the country to demand that the bombing be stopped, and that the troops be brought safely home. Those protests have been met by equally enraged citizens who see these protests as an aid to terrorists and an act of treason. Americans scream obscenities at Americans across lines created by armored police.

This will only get worse, as both groups are hardened in their opinions and beliefs. In the final analysis, questions of who is right and who is wrong fall by the wayside, as both sides stand secure in their rectitude. In such a polarized situation, right and wrong will be determined between these groups when one side quits.

Caught in the middle is a group far larger than the combined mass of the citizens described above. This group may be unsure, may fall to one side or the other on a daily basis, but essentially support the war. It is to this group in particular that I address my words.

I understand why you support this engagement. At bottom, you do so because you are loyal. The President has said it must be so, and so it must be so. The loyalty of this nation's citizenry is now and has always been our greatest strength. Many of you who support the war are veterans of other conflicts, and so your support is based upon a desire to stand with the troops now in harm's way. This is more than honorable.

Many of you believe this must happen because you have been told, time and again, that Saddam Hussein possesses an awesome arsenal of mass destruction weapons that he will gladly give to terrorists for use against us. Your belief that this is so stems from your loyalty – the President has told you it is true, and so it must be true. It is fearful indeed to consider weapons like this in the hands of terrorists.

on a map doesn't seem to be that easy. German reporters asked people on the street in the US and Germany and most failed, with the notable exception of German students who protested against the war.
Afghanistan seemed even more of a problem as was North Korea and many US citizens couldn't even find France and Germany.

Think of it this way, before you read. 200,000 troops are advancing on at least three fronts in narrow thrusts. The advance so far is 200 miles. The advance bypasses Iraqi strongholds.

The rush apparently is to encircle Baghdad. So let's assume 3 routes totalling 750 miles of resupply. Divide the number of troops by the nomber of miles and it becomes apparent just how reckless and adventurous the military plan to "take Baghdad in 6 days" is. This is lunacy of the order that has not been seen since Arnhem where 35 miles was critical. (The biggest critic of this strategy is Norman Schwartzcopf - who commanded ground forces in Gulf War 1)

Well, now it's official ... Al Jazzera Television has released video tapes showing captured American soldiers who have been executed by shots to the head. Another tape shows American POWs being put on display while being interrogated.

Where are all the "peace" activists now? These are clear cut violations of the Geneva Conventions. Unlike the unfounded allegations of the "peace" activists, this is real.

Not only am I saddened and sickened, I'm outraged! If I weren't too old and too disabled, I would try to re-enlist again.

I believe in this beautiful country. I have studied its roots and gloried in the wisdom of its magnificent Constitution. I have marveled at the wisdom of its founders and framers. Generation after generation of Americans has understood the lofty ideals that underlie our great Republic. I have been inspired by the story of their sacrifice and their strength.

But, today I weep for my country. I have watched the events of recent months with a heavy, heavy heart. No more is the image of America one of strong, yet benevolent peacekeeper. The image of America has changed. Around the globe, our friends mistrust us, our word is disputed, our intentions are questioned.

Instead of reasoning with those with whom we disagree, we demand obedience or threaten recrimination. Instead of isolating Saddam Hussein, we seem to have isolated ourselves. We proclaim a new doctrine of preemption which is understood by few and feared by many. We say that the United States has the right to turn its firepower on any corner of the globe which might be suspect in the war on terrorism. We assert that right without the sanction of any international body. As a result, the world has become a much more dangerous place.

Two Gulf War veterans have handed back their service medals in protest at the federal government's involvement in the imminent Iraq war.

Former Lieutenant Magnus Mansie and weapons system operator Brett Jones, who both served on HMAS Success in the 1991 war, tried to hand the medals to Prime Minister John Howard at parliament, but say they were told he was too busy to receive them.

Instead, they handed the medals to Greens Senator Bob Brown and Labour deputy leader Jenny Macklin who said they would try to pass them on to Mr Howard.

"The reason I have taken this action is an expression of support for our service men and women in the gulf," Mr Mansie told reporters.

"It's my personal opinion that this is an illegal war and a war that shouldn't be occurring."

Mr Jones said the war had no just cause and threatened to divide the nation.

"I feel that to invade a sovereign nation and its natural resources will incite terrorism and is not the fighting style and the fighting spirit of our nation and its defence force personnel."

"The world today is being asked to side with the U.S. in a fight against global terrorism. This is only a cover. The world is being asked today, in reality, to side with the U.S. as it seeks to strengthen its economic hegemony. This is neither acceptable nor will it be allowed. We must forge together to state that we are neither with the terrorists nor with the United States."
- Rep. Ron Paul

"In the counsels of Government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the Military Industrial Complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists, and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes."

- President Dwight Eisenhower, January 1961.

George W. Bush gave a speech Wednesday night before the Godfather of conservative Washington think tanks, the American Enterprise Institute. In his speech, Bush quantified his coming war with Iraq as part of a larger struggle to bring pro-western governments into power in the Middle East. Couched in hopeful language describing peace and freedom for all, the speech was in fact the closest articulation of the actual plan for Iraq that has yet been heard from the administration.
