This is normal. With a very large crab the molting burial process can take up to 3 months. If this is the cas do not worry. Smooth the sand around the hermie and if he/she is alive you will see their tracks in the sand for they may come up to take a bite at night.

Bought a poor crab out of pity. And poor thing was missing all but 2 legs. The big claw and one leg. The retailer (not a pet store) told me he was brought back for a refund because he "started losing legs" as an experienced owner of 3 healthy happy hermit crabs, I know that can't be true. I help him eat and drink help him move about to get sustenance. His eyes and top of his head are a bit faded in color which worried me he might pass but hebburied himself fast so I hope he can get an emergency molt to save his life poor thing!!
I don't so much like lighting because they love to be active at night. I use a heating pad on the bottom of the tank. So as to not overheat the tank I turn it on in intervals and keep a thermometer in there
