Judo on the Net

Judo on the Internet. Judo is a Japanese martial art, which consists primarily of techniques for causing your opponent to lose his balance or otherwise to land on the ground by means of various throws, whereupon he can be pinned down. The person who plays judo is known as a judoka. Judoka practice falls, so they will not get hurt. In some judo dojo, a person can advance in rank either by testing, or by beating a few persons of higher rank in a tournament. Judo has forms, known as kata. At each practice, people usually engage in randori. This is a free time when two opponents attempt to throw each other. The word "judo" means "gentle way". The martial art was founded by Jigoro Kano.
