This is a closely-knit (haha!) ring of sites, academic, personal and commercial, dedicated to the art of knitting. Sites may extoll the virtues of knitting, share fond knitting memories, offer tutorials, stitch patterns and/or techniques, or display/offer for sale the members' own handiwork. Pictured on this page: blue socks, in progresss, courtesy Lisa Risager of Denmark. On the NavBar: a red scarf knitted (well, in progress anyway!) and photographed by Clancy Ratliff.
I come from a long line of crafters. My grandmother and mother sewed avidly and my sister and aunt paint, draw, quilt, and manage their own jewelry-making businesses. I have been knitting since I was 12 years old.
Free knitting patterns and instructions, all public domain. These are mostly vintage patterns; alot are from "Beeton's Book of Needlework" as originally published in Great Britain in 1870 by Ward, Lock and Tyler. Enjoy!
