have heard that 'checker' now only check .../webring(s)

I heard that "checker" only checks the page registered and it is not found the navpanel would check the subdirectory nearest to /webring?.

It formerly will check every page, however starting from end of november 2011 it will only check the subdirectory .../webring or .../webrings!

Any truth in the rumour? (management settings, UNcrossed in the "PASS_L should be treated as FAIL.")

how do you vary the order of the sites?

how do you vary the order of the sites to get them in to order?
I have the doll, dollz, and Bears in the order that I took them over - I suggest that they could be the order, bears first and dolls second, and ....

Has any body got a clue to arrange them like this?

Ebay Auctions

Hello:

I'd like to know how we should handle websites with ebay auctions on them. They have a link to "ebay auctions" as part of their navigation. Everything is kept on their website unless the visitor goes to ebay to check on one of the items in the auction.

Isn't this creating a "oneway" navigation problem?

How should ring managers handle these?

Excuse me! How do you "put a column on the right of the mr (Rings You Manage) list?
I have looked everywhere and can't find it! Or do you mean the copy, I can't see that you mean that as you infer that it's automatically updated?

We have only about 30 rings between us, but see why you have made the suggestion! Keep up the suggestions!!!

I believe that there is a problem needing WebRing assistence : In Auction Central some rings in adoption with close date set to 08.12.2009, have Opening Bids and uniqueness scores overdue.

You mean you hear from your rep regularly?

I noticed back around message 6214 that some references were made about not hearing from your rep for awhile. Does it actually happen that you hear from your reps? I have managed one ring with about 100 sites for over 5 years and just adopted my 2nd ring, so I am a small player, but I have only heard from my rep one time about 6 months ago when I sent a request to "Frank" for info. Otherwise, I have never heard from anyone at Webring since I adopted this Ring many years back, unless it was a generic systemwide email message. If it wasn't for this forum (which it sounds like one may be penalied for using), I wouldn't know anything, not that I know much as it is. Keep posting guys....some of us are learning a lot based on your comments and questions.

Keeping on this thread...Some descriptions are "long". FILLED with JOIN instructions. If all you can say about the ring you are caretaker of is what you DON'T want in the ring rather than what IS IN the ring then it will be taken back. We can do a better job, and the MEMBERS DESERVE BETTER. Here are some automatic red flags:
1. Description has join instructions of ANY kind. Negative restrictions are far worse of couse.
2. Lack of Join instructions. We give you a full page to pontificate your wants and needs. Use it there, NOT in the description.
Note: Free managers may not have join instructions. SOrry, but still don't put them in the description.
3. Overly brief description. Seriously, can't write 100 words or so about the topic of the ring? You shouldn't be managing it.
4. Your name in title or description. Who honestly cares if "bob" manages anything? No one but bob. Use it and lose it.
5. "My WebRingd", "WebRing Homepage", and maangers generic sites anywhere near the top of the ring. If it isn't solidly on topic it doesn;t belong there. Who says your stuff is better than anyone else's?

Activity Points --Not Working?

Hi:

I haven't heard from my account rep for a few days so I am posting this here.


Last night I went over at least 300 websites of the 5 webrings I won yesterday. I clicked on each one to make sure there were no pop up ads AND to make sure they had the navbar. Sent many emails.


Woke up this morning expecting a much higher number than 28 for my activity points.

Don't we get credit for managing our webrings anymore? If that is the case, why weren't we notified?

How about posting how many points we get for the various activities. That way possible problems can be identified.

Would a "system" person PLEASE look at my activity points and figure out what is wrong. Not even sure what to ask about but I KNOW from previous experience that my points should be much higher after last night.

Webring Directory NOT WORKING

I have posted this in the shout box under "support" trying to get someone's attention. The webring directory has not worked right for several hours. NOW when I try to access the directory I get a website with this information on it. Looks to me like something is WRONG!

Oh, too many characters. It is sending a page of html coding instead of of displaying the directory.

PLEASE HELP! I've even tried to click directly on a directory link after searching for different topics. I STILL get the page full of html coding.

Sorry in advance about posting 2x but I think this is a MAJOR problem right now and I just want SOMEONE to know so it can be fixed.

What are Webring's Holiday Hours?

Question:

Many businesses post holiday hours for Christmas and New year's.

What will webring do? Should we expect that most people will be taking a 4 day weekend with the holidays falling on a Thursday this year?

Suggestion: Why not post something about holiday hours on webring's front page so people applying for membership in rings don't get frustrated if it takes a bit longer to be approved during this time period.

I want a new account rep & Auction problem NOT fixed

Would someone with the authority to do so:

1) Assign me to a new account rep effective immediately. I'd love to be assigned to "Michael" if possible.

2) Fix the auction problem reported here yesterday. I wound up paying 1110 for the webring called "snakes". Here's the proof of winning and amount paid for this webring. I was promised 910 points would be added back to my account and it has not happened.

AUCTION MISTAKE--AUCTION ENDS TODAY

Hi:

I've contacted Lisa, but haven't heard from her. I know she works when she can but I don't know if she will see this in time and I am leaving for a few hours. I would just wait for her if I wasn't leaving.

I was bidding on SNAKES. My last bid was supposed to be 110 instead of 1110! I was trying to find the "reserve price". PLEASE, would someone fix this for me and notify LISA that it has been handled. Not sure if the auction will end before I get back home.

THANK YOU in advance for your help. Time to change batteries in my keyboard. It always starts with keys sticking just before they die. Or, I may just have to clean the birdseed out again.

site does not like my leadership

Site does not like my leadership, can I give it back?

I mean the 'Polynesia "Sites"', earlyeastpolynes, the "sites" or archeological "digs" of early East Polynesia.
After getting rid of the "strays" - generally sites that confused the "sites" with "internet sites" - I discovered that the three sites remaining were from the same pen, and they weren't a ring at all!

They were a ring titled "Early East Polynesia Ring" - obviously neglected and with change of name offered in the Auctions.
Obviously we can't argue with three webmaster in one to get the ring going again. Even though I am interested in Archeology, but in Europe, I don't think that ring is for me!
