My husband and I have a 2 yr old male min. Recently, at the advisement of our vet, we had him neutered - he's a pet so there is no reason to breed. Prior to the surgery, he would mount men, be overly barkish, and also growl at my husband and I when trying to take away objects from him that he shouldn't have had. Post surgery, we found that his growling has become even worse. He snarls at us when near his food, when crawling into bed, and sometimes, for merely looking at him.
My background is I grew up with Irish Wolfhounds which we bred and competed with in AKC registered shows. Never have I had a dog that has behaved in such a way towards me and I'm quite taken back. Is there a way to correct this behavior? I fear that if we allow this to continue that something worse may happen in the future - ie him biting us or someone else. Can anyone help me?
feel free to email me with any information or even sites that I can read to help with this temperment problem.
Thanks so much - Kathleene

MiniPins are notorious for chasing and swallowing vermin, and occasionally they mistake little objects such as bottle caps for rodents or bugs. Does or did your MiniPin have a habit of swallowing little objects, and how do you keep them from doing so?
