European researches are trying to piece together evidence of bigfoot, yeti and the like. Caught my eye since Oregon is ground zero for a lot of bigfoot lore. No wonder too. The coastal range is pretty unpopulated and densely forested - it would be easy to stay unseen for years.
Well, in a rareturn, the weatherman was right and we had clouds. Our elcipse was a bust. Looked something like above. What we really got was about 4 hours of dusk.
Spring is here. sort of. Shasta is still a white capped mountain and there is snow everywhere, and it's cold more days than not. But, there is green everywhere and the bees are out in force. Warm weather cannot be far off now!
When I was younger I liked winter more. Not as much any longer. I prefer the warmth and comfort of a tropical beach to the harsh realities of winter in southern Oregon. But the sad truth is I live here and you have to put up with it. In that light, there are some very beautiful days here, even in the freezer chest of winter.

I've written about one of our best local bakeries before, and I had an experience with them again I'd like to share. http://deuxchats.com/Home_Page.html - Deux Chats I stopped by last Friday morning anticipating a nice warm sunrise brioche or other tasty delight fresh from the oven. To my dismay, and I'm sure theirs even more so, there was naught to be had! Their oven had failed in the wee hours of the morning and all they had was a room full of rising dough! Nice folks that they are, though, I was not turned away empty handed. They offered me a few oven ready loaves to take home, which I gladly did. Popped them in the oven and here's the result: (see below, or media) The aroma, nice. The taste even better. It's hard to beat bread fresh from your own oven, especially if all you have to do is bake it We enjoyed it for several days. Took a loaf to the parents too. Oh, our big old lab enjoyed most of a loaf also. He might be old, but he can still reach the counter if we're not careful!

We had our first winter weather roll through southern Oregon last night. Snow on the surrounding hills and chilly temperatures in town. Sorry no prictures; too cold and too far away. We'll have prettier days in a month or two.
pretty good pictures for a cellphone! I would love to visit Oregon someday. My town, alas, does not have much in the way of seasons (southern cal). The upside is that it doesn't get too cold in the winter, but I think I would trade a little cold for colors like that!
