Sorry I'm taking up so much time here. Been having lot's of problems with no one to turn to. My dog's breeder is a really good friend of mine and I didn't want her to feel bad.
Our 4 month old toy Pom pup will sit next to the door and then RUN out when my husband even cracks the door to smoke! (We've had him since the beginning of Feb) That wouldn't be so bad, but then he will NOT come back. We have chased that pup all over our neighborhood and the ONLY one who can get him to come back (normally) is our 2 year old. Food doesn't even work!
You would think that he is being mistreated, but he's not at all. He's the king around here and I don't understand why he is being like he is. It is like he has no loyalty to us at all. We do not have a fenced yard and he is a house/lap dog and so when he gets out, it's dangerous. We have long leashes attached to the house in the front and the back, so he gets plenty of outside time AND we walk him all over the place, all the time.
I KNOW how to make large breed dogs come to you and I've never had one of them bolt like he does and then not even look back.
Is this normal behavior? Will he eventually develop some normal loyalty towards us?
And the incessant chewing on everything. sigh
This pup has at least 10 toys and he will actually reach up onto the coffee table and get the shoes that we put up there to keep him off of them and then literally chew them to shreads!
He has chewed bras and underwear (CLEAN ones!) and anything that he can get ahold of, to absolute pieces. It is amazing to me, how something so small can cause so much mayhem. Is this normal behavior for Pom's or is mine just "dysfunctional"????
Thanks for ANY help!
Sincerely,
Sharlene
