I have a 2 year old porti and he has been itching a lot Could you let me know if this is common I have had him on steroids and it has,t helped Could you let me know if anyone elsre has this problem .

My friend's PWD loves water (big surprise, huh?), but the lakes around our town are loaded with leeches. At least half the time she takes her PWD out to the lake, it returns to the shore with a minimum of one leech attached to its underbelly or its groomed parts. Luckily, her PWD is a pet and not a show dog, because it's riddled with minute discoloration due to where the leech was removed.
Is there a way to help PWDs avoid leeches when they go swimming outside of not taking them to lakes?
