I am looking for a AC switch for a 1963 Studebaker Avanti. I currently have a replacement switch that works, but the original chrome knob won't work with it.

Does anyone have any information on the 1908 model
with right hand drive. Was it all made by Studebaker
or was the body made by them but the drive train by
another company out of Detroit. When was the entire
car made by Studebaker and how would one know?
Thanks

Hi! New owner of 1963 Avanti R1.Needed new carb. Removed linkage to trans to r&r carb. Stored while awaiting carb, but my shed burned down and the part went with it. Melted lump of unrecognizable metal. As a new owner I only had the car a week and I didn't get the chance to get familiar with it, not much of a wrench to begin with, intended to farm out most repairs, but I was excited as you might guess. Need a new one but I don't have a proper name. Perhaps someone can help. It mounts on the shaft that goes down to the tranny and conects to the carb throttle linkage. Mine was triangular in shape with one side of L shaped steel. All of the part was of rather thin steel. I believe the part is called a bellcrank. Other Avantis I've since looked at (two) have a different configuration. The Avanti parts catalog from Studebaker, " Chasis and body parts" for 1963 Avanti, plate # 03-3, with parts labelled, 0312- from 15 thru 48 are the closest set up I've found but they obviously aren't triangular in shape. I " THINK" this is the area I'm looking at but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to be sure. I know the traans is involved as a trans guy wired the lever in a position so that it starts of in second and works ok from there but no accelleration to speak of. Looked thru 4 parts books so far but no pictures that match. So I don't know what to order. Think this is an early model and they changed the part soon afterward, ya think? I'm worse on computers than on cars so I may not even be able to find this site again. This is being posted on December 6th, 2011. Anybody who thinks they might be able to help, please I sure can use it I,m really new, this is my first Avanti and I'm on a steep learning curve.. Plus I'm located in Fairbanks Alaska, so there is almost no lcal guys to ask, no other Avanti owners to be sure. Please, if you think you can help or just want to give advise to a fellow Studebaker owner I'd sure appreciate a call at: 1-907-452-6708. Once we are in touch I'll call back to absorb any phone charges. Please take the time, cause I can sure use the help and encouragement. I am, Scott R. Jones at 300 Baranof ave, Fairbanks, Alaska, 99701, phone again is, 1-907-452-6708. Hoping to here from someone, thanks for reading this, bye. Scott..
