TeachKidsMath is a teaching and education website by a recently retired middle school math teacher who spent 20 years as a Marine officer before becoming a teacher. The site is an archive of his teaching and leadership experience with ideas, opinions, anecdotes, reproducibles, resources and some very original classroom tools. Check out the self-made HTML Jeopardy game - fully downloadable with simple instructions to customize it for any classroom. The content emphasizes math but also discusses leadership, classroom management, homework, parents and other contemporary issues. If you are a parent, teacher, home schooler or just thinking about teaching, this site has a lot to offer. Content is added several times a week so keep checking back. Your feedback is welcome.

Outdoors, travel, history and education site by two retired Boomers, one of them a teacher. It chronicles our own adventures geocaching, orienteering, letterboxing and other outdoor activities including our ghostly encounter at Shiloh Battlefield. We hope to promote lifelong learning and curiosity about the world around us. If you are a parent or teacher looking for ideas to teach and motivate kids, get them outside and have some fun together, this web site has a lot to offer. Check out our teacher pages. There's no armchair traveling here. We've been to every place in this web site and most of the pictures are ours. It's impossible to write about everything we do or every place we go. So we have picked out places and adventures that live up to our web name - Off the Beaten Path.
