Threads

Find while picking through this ring all kinds of threads:  lovely needlework, from embroidery to sewing, from cross stitch to crochet, from spinning to weaving.  Pictured:  Sewing (1898) by William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905).  On the NavBar:  a detail from a (public domain) photograph from the United States Library of Congress, taken between 1900 and 1930, of Eskimo children (only one shown in the detail) being taught to sew at a United States government school in Alaska.

When I first started the Threads ring, RingSurf had the most flexibility and the best management options I could find. That all changed in late November 2003 when they completed re-programmed their interface. Cool features that used to work suddenly didn't, support became non-existant, and it went down hill from there.

Moving a ring is a big job. Not just for the ring owner, but for every ring member. So making the decision to move the ring was not an easy one. I finally just had enough of the problems, however, and put my foot down. I'm abandoning RingSurf in favor of WebRing.

The new ring will have the same home page with the navy blue and gardenia borders, and the pretty hot pink links, but the ring management and the ring code look completely different.

So, now it's up to all ring members to apply for membership in the new ring, to add the WebRing code to their sites, and to delete the old RingSurf code from their sites. I sincerely hope that everyone will be able to make the move. I apologize for the inconvenience. I know it's a pain. I will keep the RingSurf ring running until the middle of March, then I will shut it down. So far, a number of sites have followed me over, and have the new ring code on their pages.

To everyone who has already moved, and those who haven't had the time yet, but who plan on moving soon, a huge THANK YOU from me to you.
