Home of the Great Steel Fleet of passenger trains including the well known 20th Century Limited and Empire State Express. Known as The Water Level Route, it served customers between New York/Boston and Chicago, as well as many other cities in the Eastern United States. It included the Boston & Albany, Pittsburgh & Lake Erie, Peoria & Eastern, Big Four, Michigan Central, among others, as well as its Canadian divisions through Southern Ontario.

The Central New England Railway in Hopewell Junction Preview

The Central New England Railway (CNE) was a railroad across northern Connecticut and west across the Hudson River in New York. The station is still standing and is being restored. Details of this railroad in the area of Hopewell Junction, New York. It eventually became part of the Poughkeepsie Bridge Route (an alliance between railroads for a passenger route from Washington to Boston) and later a line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad.

The Central New England Railway Bus Tour 2012 Preview

The Central New England Railway (CNE) came from northern Connecticut and west across the Hudson River in New York to Maybrook. It crossed the great bridge at Poughkeepsie. It later became part of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. In the past few years our tours have covered almost all of the CNE. The 2012 tour will cover the CNE between Canaan and Millbrook/Copake.
