I looked for Sasafrass Tea recently and it is difficult at best to find retail. I then read online that products containing Safroil was banned by US FDA in the late 60's due to concerns of liver complications. It occurs to me, my grandmother gave us kids the tea sparingly as a blood tonic. My question is: are we sure it wasn't banned since the main ingredient of the drug MDNA or street name Ecstacy is safroil? This became somewhat popular about the same time as the FDA ban. Stinks we are told so much bull don't know where to turn.
